Pierrette B. Van Cleve Bio Pierrette B. Van Cleve is the founder and President of the Art Cellar Exchange, Inc. Ms. Van Cleve has multiple degrees in art, art history and art education, as well as a designation in Art Historical Criticism from Warnborough House College at Oxford University. For ten years she worked as the Education Coordinator for the Des Moines Art Center under James Demetrion, the present Director of the Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington D.C. In 1988, she developed a service that specialized in the transfer of money and artwork between fine art collectors, disseminates appraisal information, and fulfills the needs of corporations and private individuals. The Art Cellar Exchange became the premiere full service fine art consultancy in the United States. In 1994, the Art Cellar Exchange went online and became the first fine art business on the World Wide Web. This brought the company international recognition and facilitated sales at a global level. Art Cellar Exchange's premier presence on the Internet brought forth only the beginning of the series of media attention it would receive from acclaimed book, magazine, and newspaper publications. In 1997, Pierrette Van Cleve, founder and president of Art Cellar Exchange, was honored with a cover-story feature in Independent Business magazine. Art Cellar Exchange has also been referenced in savvy, business-know-how book publications such as From Mind to Market (Blackwell, 1997). Praise, interest, and interviews have also followed suit from major newspapers such as the New York Times (November 4, 1999) and USA Today (January 10, 2000).
